Love this new little gem on Norton St! Grab a seat in the beautiful upstairs room with a fantastic view of Norton St and watch the world go by. Fantastic service. $7 happy hour beers. Great option to get a meal with 3 curries and a dessert. Check it out!

I’ve been here a few times now and have to say it’s the best Indian food I’ve had in ages. The chefs obviously know their stuff because it’s consistently good. Only tried a few dishes so far and I come out of there with a smile on my face.The service is good and the staff look happy.Not too concerned about the atmosphere as it not important to me, but it’s perfectly fine.If you’re from the UK, then it’ll be to your taste. Reminds me of a good London curry house.Recommended.

I just had an incredible lunch at this Indian restaurant in Leichhardt. The chicken vindaloo was hands down the best I’ve ever had—flavorful, perfectly spiced, and absolutely unforgettable. The service was fantastic, and the restaurant itself is not only beautiful but also creates a wonderful dining experience. I highly recommend it!

Friendly and attentive staff. Mains were served within 15 mins of ordering. A bit of wait time for our dessert orders to be taken. Lots of vegetarian options. Another good restaurant on Norton St. Bus stop is conveniently located only 20 metres from Lalaji. Recommend the butter chicken, vegetarian biryani, malai kofta and garlic and herb naan. Toilets located upstairs. We will be back.

Great food and friendly staff. We tried the thali plate which came with 3 different curries and they were all incredibly delicious. The decor and atmosphere are also fantastic. Highly recommended.

Initially a little concerned about several positive Google reviews posted by people as their first and only review, feedback from the locals suggested that this was one to try.This restaurant is sister to one in Blacktown home to a larger Indian community than Leichhardt, and clearly a discerning one since the restaurant appears to have flourished there.The menu is extensive although it contains a number of misprints and some dubious inclusions in what might be an attempt to appeal to the Italian Leichhardt vibe - spaghetti and Parmesan do NOT belong on this menu, and the chefs should consider removing them.We finally settled on minced lamb kebabs, juicy and spicy with a cooling (maybe cucumber?) smooth sauce - this sauce manages to find its way as an accompaniment to almost all the dishes, here’s an opportunity for the chef to mix it up a little and offer something different. Also ordered were the lamb chops which I didn’t sample but the other two said they were brilliant. The fish tika was exceptional, the fillets tender and flavoursome. Butter chicken was wonderful, rich creamy tomato sauce and the most tender chicken pieces we’d ever enjoyed. The black Dahl was superb and the prawns were delicious.With a little tweaking this place could easily go from very good to brilliant. The staff are attentive, the chef knows what he’s doing, the flavours are unashamedly authentic and a revelation for your taste buds. They also happily accommodated our BYO although they have a full licence. A lesson to other local restaurants, you’re a neighbourhood restaurant, allow the locals to BYO especially mid week or you’ll follow the fate of this restaurant’s predecessor.Finally, this restaurant is a much needed and welcome addition in Norton Street, it’s worth trying - you’ll love the flavours because they’re bold and they’re real.

We went to find restaurant without a booking on christmas eve and extremely pleased to find this gem, they just opened. Awesome vegetarian options for starters and main and the waiting staff were very accommodating. The food is awesome and possibly the best in Sydney. love this place!

Had a great dining experience. The food was delicious, with a variety of well-prepared dishes. The ambiance was cozy and welcoming. Staff member, Bhuvan, made the evening even better — he was attentive, friendly, and gave excellent recommendations. Highly recommend for both food and service!

Food was amazing. So tasty with beautiful aromatic flavours . We had the banquet and each dish was faultless.The entree Pani Pura was especially yummy, as were the samosas. The chicken tikka was noteworthy too. Just a bit spicy and very flavoursome.Highly recommend a visit for a delicious Indian food experience.We will be back.

As a Brit who loves a good curry, I’m thrilled to have found this local gem. The garlic naan was fresh and perfectly soft and a decent size and the samosas were generously filled (not greasy at all), and the curries were bursting with flavour. Portions were just right, and everything tasted authentic and delicious.It’s so exciting to see a new local business delivering such quality food. If you’re in the area and craving Indian cuisine, I highly recommend giving Lala Ji a try.Thanks for staying open for me and my partner, despite it clearly being the end of the evening.Looking forward to going back soon!

An wonderful dining experience! The thali featuring signature lentils, butter chicken, and goat curry was absolutely delicious, and the naan, rice, and dessert rounded it out perfectly. Everything was bursting with flavor and fantastic value for the quality. The fresh-made lassi was a a nice. touch, and the diverse menu offers something for everyone. Highly recommend this gem for anyone looking for authentic, flavorful food!
